About me

I’m Kelly, mum to Evelyn, who’s almost 4 years old, and George, 14 months. I am also a working mum, a part-time GP.

I started this blog whilst on maternity leave with Evelyn, taking the opportunity of becoming a first time mum to become a first time blogger! By diarising and reflecting on my experience I hope that I can cherish, remember and relive this special time.

Becoming a Mum is one of the most amazing and rewarding experiences a woman can go through, however it can be one of the hardest, most challenging and potentially a very lonely time of your life. There is a lot that goes unsaid about the difficulties of early motherhood. No matter who you are, where you are from or what you do for a living, I feel that becoming a first time Mum is universally a shock to the system!

Though there’s no instruction manual for motherhood, there is a great deal of good information out there, it’s just hard to find! I spent a lot of time searching for advice when I was struggling. I hope that this blog brings together everything that I found useful. If it helps other mums and mums-to-be out there then that’s a bonus!

So this blog isn’t here to preach or tell people what to do, because ultimately I don’t know what’s best! Who does?! And ultimately every baby is different!

In addition to the blogs I’ve done already I plan on writing about the following: George’s birth story, second time breastfeeding journey and post natal depression and anxiety. Any suggestions for further blog ideas are very much welcomed! 😊
